MacMillan Law Library offers a number of services to Emory Law School Visiting Scholars. These include:
*access to the facility during normal operating hours via public entrances
only users who merit sponsored accounts will be issued Emory ID cards granting staff access
*use of the MacMillan's reference services (walk up, phone or by appointment)
*borrowing privileges at MacMillan and other campus libraries - most materials circulate for 28 days OR the visitor's end of stay date, whichever is soonest
(PLEASE NOTE this excludes the use of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery)
*the use of a limited number of study carrels with lockable cabinets (“locked carrels”). Carrels are available on a first come, first served basis.
To register a visiting scholar and set up these privileges, please complete the form below. Applications should be completed by the sponsor or their designee (not the scholar themselves
). Applications take one business day to process. All applications require the name of the visitor's faculty or staff sponsor (not just an office or administrative assistant). The sponsor agrees to be responsible for all outstanding materials/charges incurred by their visitor. Charges for lost library materials may be deducted from the sponsor's Law School account.
Visitors must read and agree these guidelines before this application is submitted. The Law Library may revoke some or all of a visitor's privileges at any time should violations of the Library's policies occur.
Locked carrels are assigned to eligible users retrieving and using a significant amount of library materials for scholarly research. Locked carrel assignments only reserve the shelf and lower cabinet space. Carrel seating and desk space are not reserved. Locked Carrels are located on the 1st floor of the law library. All laptop users have access to the university’s wireless network, and all lockable carrels are equipped with live Ethernet ports. MacMillan Law Library, its staff and associates are not responsible for personal belongings in or around the locked carrel. Locked carrel assignments expire on the last day of final exams each semester or at the end of the approved assignment period, whichever is soonest
. Carrels cannot be renewed, but can be reapplied for in subsequent semesters.
For visitors who will be staying with Emory Law longer than a few weeks, their faculty/staff sponsor may wish to request an official sponsored account from UTS. To request a sponsored account, please submit a help request with UTS here
